Canada One

As wedding season is officially over, and I still want to give whoever reads this little blog something to look at, I'll be posting my favorite pictures from my trip/honeymoon to Banff and Jasper Alberta (Canada) every other day with a brief story about the picture or day. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the most beautiful places there is - although I'm sure that can be debated as I'm not a world traveler yet. I'll be working my way up to my favorite, so in theory, every day should be better! But here's what will start things off...
My much motion blurred black bear "cub" picture! He really seems more like an adolescent, but definitely not an adult. On this trip, we spent countless hours in our sub-microscopic-whocanfitinhereanway-rental car driving the backroads of Banff hoping to see some awesome wildlife. I had a checklist in my head of everything I wanted to see, topped off by the oh-so-famous grizzly. While in Jasper National Park, about a 4 hour drive north from Banff, we ran into this scraggly fellow. He wasn't too interested in posing for his picture, but I did manage to capture his mad dash up the hill.

Now, a story sadly without a picture. Hubby and I were driving on said back road and I was gazing out the window into the pine woods imagining I would see a grizzly. Now I have a pretty vivid imaginiation and I soon believed I had actually seen one! I yelled at hubby to stop the car and back up but he said I was crazy and just overthinking it. So we kept going until we hit the turn around and came back. We debated getting out and walking the road, but decided it would take too long and dark was coming. So we're traveling slowly back when lo and behold but what should walk slowly across the street in front of us but a grizzly! She sat down on the side of the road right next to the car and started eating berries as I madly grabbed for my camera. Unfortnately it was about 9:00pm (it stays light until 10:15 or so) and my settings had been left on high noon. She walked away before I realize this.

But we saw our grizzly! Cute and cuddly looking, but I doubt that to be true...
