Engagement Session Q&A

This was done on the "old blog" but since it will now become lost in the vast world of internet mystery, I thought I'd repost Deidre Lynn Photography question and answers

So you’ve noticed that your wedding package comes with a complimentary engagement session and you have a few questions about it. Hopefully this can clear some of those questions up!

Q. Where should we have our engagement session?

A. Pretty much anywhere in the Peoria, Washington, Morton, so on and so forth areas. If you and your fiance have a place that is scenic and special to you, mention it! Some popular locations are the Luthy Botanical Gardens, Glen Oak area, Grandview Drive, Downtown Peoria (warehouse district, railroad tracks, river front, park area beyond Rvierplex) and family farms/property.

Q. What should we wear?

A. Jeans are always a popular option as the engagement session is meant to be a more relaxed time as your wedding will obviously be the formal event. Plain colors work best, but in the summer you can never go wrong with a fun dress and heels of your choice (for the ladies of course...)

Q. How long will our engagement session take?

A. Until we get the images that we desire - usually about an hour or so, you'll be moving around alot as that's how I shoot, I like to get alot of locations in.

Q. What time of the day should we plan our session?

A. The evening is usually best for good lighting (and for your work schedule) In the late spring, summer, and early autumn, starting anywhere from 3:oo-6:30 is fine, until the time change comes along and spoils evenings.

Q. Anything else we should know?

A. Engagement sessions are a wonderful time for you to become comfortable in front of the camera, and for me to get to know your personalities. As far as instructing you for posing, I usually just say, “have fun together, gaze lovingly into eachothers eyes, and just be the in love couple you are!” By the time your wedding day rolls around, you'll be an old pro in front of the camera.
