The Ice Before Christmas

This is from the beautiful ice storm that knocked our power out for a day and a half (try waking up to a 40 degree room...) but once power was back up and running, the beautifulness of the trees was calling my camera. Not that it REALLY wanted to go outside when it was -5 degrees with a -25 wind chill, but it's owner did. So out we went to a local golf course to get these images. And that snow? It was SLIPPERY! I only fell once though - holding the camera off the ground of course (I'm not about to let my 5D II experience the joys of the Canon repair shop just yet!)

So was it worth it? Not really. I came home and looked up "frozen lungs" to see if that was a possibility (it's not.) These pictures won't be hanging in my office anytime soon to remind me of all that is Illinois, but it was an experience nonetheless.

Love the images, they are great! Gotta love central Illinois

(and...Be careful with your lenses when its cold like that, if you go from hot to cold, cold to hot, the lens can get moisture in it, and then it will have a pertinent fog to it.)
